Biography Charles G. West

Charles G. West burst onto the western literary scene in March, 1998 with his debut novel, Stone Hand, published by Penguin under their Signet imprint. The book marked the beginning of a three-book series featuring Jason Coles, a master tracker. The positive public response to these initial books led to an outpouring of demand for more western fiction by West, and by January 2014, Signet had published forty-five of his books. Inspired by adventure authors like A.B. Guthrie and Vardis Fisher, West has always strived to honor the men and women who braved the dangers of the savage frontier that became the American west. His novels are classified as historical/westerns due to his meticulous research, weaving fiction into the fabric of actual places and events. West’s protagonists are not typical heroes, but are often called upon to perform heroic deeds, instilled with a sense of fairness in addition to courage. Many of his characters are inspired by his two sons, both graduates of the University of Montana, who share his love for the Big Sky Country. Currently, the author resides in Ocala, Florida with his wife, Ronda, whose name is dedicated on every West novel’s dedication page.
