About Chuck Berry

Chuck Berry was a pioneer of rock and roll music. His influential songs, such as “Maybellene”, “Roll Over Beethoven”, “Rock and Roll Music”, and “Johnny B. Goode,” helped refine and develop rhythm and blues into the major elements that made rock and roll distinctive. His lyrics focused on teen life and consumerism, and he developed a music style that included guitar solos and showmanship. Berry’s impact on subsequent rock music was significant, leading to his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him fifth on its 2004 list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, and three of his songs are included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll. Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode” is the only rock-and-roll song included on the Voyager Golden Record. Chuck Berry passed away at the age of 90.
