Biography Cynthia Manick

Cynthia Manick is a highly acclaimed poet, editor, and author, known for her work in the literary world. As the winner of the Lascaux Prize in Collected Poetry and the editor of The Future of Black: Afrofuturism, Black Comics, and Superhero Poetry, as well as the author of Blue Hallelujahs, Manick has garnered significant recognition for her contributions to the literary community. She has also been the recipient of fellowships from prestigious organizations such as Cave Canem, Hedgebrook, MacDowell Colony, and Château de la Napoule, among others.

In addition to her written work, Manick is also the creator of the Soul Sister Revue reading series and has had her poem “Things I Carry into the World” adapted into a film by Motionpoems. As a storyteller and performer, she has appeared at various literary festivals, libraries, universities, and museums, including the Brooklyn and Frye museums.
