Who is Robert Lawson

Robert Lawson, a native of New York City, spent his formative years in Montclair, New Jersey. He pursued his passion for art at the New York School of Fine and Applied Art under the guidance of illustrator Howard Giles. In 1922, he married fellow artist Marie Abrams. Lawson’s career as an illustrator began in 1914, and he went on to publish in various magazines. During World War I, he served in the first U.S. Army camouflage unit in France. After the war, Lawson illustrated numerous children’s books, earning acclaim and prestigious awards. He also explored etching and received recognition for his prints. Lawson passed away in 1957 at his home in Westport, Connecticut, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and artistic innovation.
